Having friends over for the weekend

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Well, this morning I got up early to get the house ready for guests that will be spending the weekend.  They’re supposed to arrive in about three hours, so I should have enough time to get the guest room ready, and the rest of the place picked up and somewhat presentable.  I’m going to have to make a quick run to the town to pick up some more veggie tray ingredients, chips, dip and soda!  This was a last minute surprise to me, so I didn’t pick up enough food during the last shopping trip to last all of us for the weekend.  I hope the weather cooperates so maybe we can go out tonight and have supper and catch a movie!

Easter was a bust for me this year

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

I have caught a bad cold and stayed in bed over the weekend. I had planned on going to a family Easter dinner and celebration with my big extended family, but I just am feeling too lousy to even leave the house. I don’t want to expose any of my folks to this, so I’ll just stay home and feel sorry for myself.  I’m especially bummed because I wanted to go to a sugar shack and buy some maple syrup and get some free samples of syrup over ice cream and free samples of maple candy.

First day of spring!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Today is the first day of spring! Thank Goodness Winter is officially over! I am ready for better weather, short sleeves and shorts! I know that kind of warm weather is really several weeks away yet, but it is a relief to know that the worst of the winter is behind us now!  I’m looking forward to spending more time outdoors!

Green beer day!

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Well, today after work all of my friends got together at the local pub for green beer and the traditional St Patrick’s Day celebration. We all wore green or orange, and teased each other about which one of us wore which color. I wish I lived close enough to a place that holds a big St Patrick’s Day parade – I really like parades!

Cross country skiing today

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Well, it is snowing today, but I’m going to go out cross country skiing in it anyway for a little while.  I enjoy the exercise, and I enjoy the peace and quiet of skiing on a nice trail, the snow falling gently around me.  The beauty of the countryside is something that brings a tranquility to my soul that is hard to describe.  I really enjoy being outside when it is so very quiet that all I can hear is my own breath and the swish of my skis.
