Timing

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

I keep hearing on the news that today is the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s famous “I have a dream” speech. I also keep hearing that today is the last day of the Democratic Convention, which will be featuring a speech by Barack Obama. I have to wonder if the timing of the convention happened to be planned to be corresponding to the anniversary of the Martin Luther King speech? If not I find it a very interesting coincidence in historical events!

Democratic convention

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

We’ve got the television on tonight, waiting to hear Hillary Clinton’s speech at the convention.  My parents and I were all hoping that Hillary would have been Obama’s VP choice, and are very disappointed that he picked Biden instead.  We think it will be very difficult for Hillary to make a good speech encouraging everyone to vote for Obama under the circumstances, and we want to see how well she does.

I was so sorry to hear about the Edwards indiscretion

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I was so sorry to hear that the rumors that John Edwards had been unfaithful to his wife have been proven to be true, by John Edwards own admission.  This is a guy who seemed so clean cut, and trustworthy.  What a huge scandal this would have become if he HAD won the nomination!  I wonder if there are any men out there that ARE faithful and trustworthy!  Now that he has come out in public with his admission, there is sure to be a plethora of news coverage, both Internet and television, about it.  What a shame for his wife and family.

The tire gauge

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I was reading on the Time.com website that the good old tire gauge is getting a political workout!  I was reading that Barack Obama was saying that it would be a good idea for everyone to check their tire pressure and make sure that their tires are properly inflated.  That would help to reduce wasted gasoline.  He’s right, it would.  And I read that the McCain is trying to ridicule his suggestion.

Hey, every little bit makes a difference!  You gotta start somewhere!  I’m going to buy myself a tire gauge!

Prayer Wall prayer stolen and published in newspaper

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I’ve been reading on various Internet news websites, and seeing on CNN Headline News that Barack Obama’s prayer that he tucked into the Prayer Wall was stolen from the wall and then sold to a newspaper that published it.  There has been a huge uproar over how sacrilegious an act that was, that the prayers tucked into the wall are supposed to be private communications between the person doing the praying and his God.  I think it is a sad state of affairs when that kind of private communication is not only breached, but that a newspaper would then stoop so low as to publish the prayer.  The publisher of the paper should be ashamed of him/herself!
