My brother loves to skateboard

Monday, July 21st, 2008

My brother loves to skateboard.  He has been skateboarding as much as he can squeeze in over the last ten years at least.  He wants to buy a new pair Vans skate shoes from a website called BuySkateShoes.com.  He says they have a great selection of skate shoes, and that he likes their prices, too.  I went to their website and looked around for myself.  I went to their accessories section and laughed so hard at the can cozy they are selling that says “I’m not deaf I’m ignoring YOU!”  I told my brother that when he orders he shoes, to order that can cozy for me, too.

Fine against CBS for wardrobe malfunction has been over turned

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I was reading on the BBC news website that the $550,000 fine that the FCC levied against CBS for the wardrobe malfunction for the Super Bowl halftime show back in 2004 has been over turned by a US appeal court.  I’ve heard a lot about the wardrobe malfunction, but was not watching the Superbowl so did not see it myself.  I did hear that Janet Jackson and Jason Timberlake were involved, and that Janet Jackson’s breast was exposed during their act.  I also heard (from friends that say they were watching) that she was wearing a pasty to cover her nipple area, but I don’t know if that is true or not.

Since that happened, all parties involved said it was NOT a planned part of the act, that it was an accident, but I really do have to wonder if it was an accident, then why was she wearing a pasty?  (If in fact, she WAS wearing a pasty!)

Forced evictions for the Beijing Olympics

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Well I know that here in the USA the different governments, and the railroads can take property by eminent domain, but the property owners are supposed to get fair compensation for their property, based on fair market price.  I was watching a news video on the BBC website a few moments ago about how Chinese citizens are being forcibly evicted from their homes to make way for gardens to make the site of the Olympics look nicer.  According to the video, the people are being evicted in the middle of the night and are receiving “little compensation.”  They don’t say how “little” that is, but the video shows the reporter interviewing one homeowner in her home one day and when he goes back the next morning the house is completely gone.  The reporter doesn’t seem to know how to find her or get any more information on that story.

This really is a black eye for China in the human rights department!  Shame on them!

Drunken boating

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Boating Operating Under the Influence is the biggest cause of boating deaths in the state.  People get drunk and don’t put on their life jackets and then they do something stupid with their boat, fall out and drown.  I think that if people are going to be consuming alcohol and boating that they should have a designated driver, just like they are supposed to do with cars.

Roller blading

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Today I was rummaging around in the basement and found my old pair of rollerblades! It has been about ten years since I’ve used them, and to be perfectly honest I had even forgotten that I had them! I rummaged around a little bit more and found the elbow pads, knee pads and helmet. I took them all outside, put them on and roller-bladed my heart out in the driveway, up and down our little cul-de-sac. I got tired pretty quickly, but I sure had fun! I’ll bet I’ll be sore in the morning!
