Well I know that here in the USA the different governments, and the railroads can take property by eminent domain, but the property owners are supposed to get fair compensation for their property, based on fair market price.  I was watching a news video on the BBC website a few moments ago about how Chinese citizens are being forcibly evicted from their homes to make way for gardens to make the site of the Olympics look nicer.  According to the video, the people are being evicted in the middle of the night and are receiving “little compensation.”  They don’t say how “little” that is, but the video shows the reporter interviewing one homeowner in her home one day and when he goes back the next morning the house is completely gone.  The reporter doesn’t seem to know how to find her or get any more information on that story.

This really is a black eye for China in the human rights department!  Shame on them!
