How you made them feel

One of the things that I’ve been seeing a lot online is a quote that goes something like this: People will forget the things you’ve said and done, but they will always remember the way that you have made them feel. I’ve given that a lot of thought, and realized that a lot of people don’t seem to understand that when they interrupt and correct other people that the person being interrupted or corrected feels angry at the person who is interrupting and/or correcting them. In the scheme of things, I am going to try harder to stop interrupting and correcting other people because I do not want them to remember me for making them feel a negative emotion. I hope that this will help to set an example to other people.

SNOWED IN

This past weekend we got snowed in. I’m glad that we had TV and internet because we were able to keep ourselves entertained all weekend. Although the weather outside was frightful, we had a delightful weekend. Luckily, I had been to the grocery store and did not have to worry about having enough food for the whole weekend. We just cuddled up on the couch next to the fire and watched  movies. I also did a little internet shopping while I had the time. I decided that because it was so frigid outside that I needed to order some new gloves. When I took the kids outside to play we made snow men and threw snowballs. My gloves were way too cold. They weren’t waterproof any more. It must have been the years of skiing when I lived in Jackson that broke them in, but I don’t ever remember my fingers being that cold! Next time we are snowed in I will be prepared with lots to watch and much better winter gloves!

Self Help Books on Kindle

My dad got a Kindle for Christmas and he loves it. I was concerned that since he has rejected most electronics and computers, that he would not really like the Kindle. But to my surprise, he says he loves the lightweight, always available, non glare screen and he uses it daily. In fact, he reads more now with his Kindle than he used to when he was buying paperback books.

For Father’s Day I think I will give him a gift card to download more books for his Kindle. He has mentioned wanting to read more self help books, on a variety of subjects. Often those are hard to find in paperback and the hardback books are too expensive. So if he can get four or five of the books that he wants from a gift card, then at least I know he will like the gift.

Cute project

Yesterday I was reading a blog that was done by a hardware store and it was about a challenge that was made to two different employees to do something creative with some different random products that are sold at that store. One of the contestants used a shop vac and decorated it to resemble a scare-crow of sorts, using some welding gloves on the ends of the hose of the shop vac to make it look like a set of arms and hands.

I thought that was cute, but to be honest I really liked the way that the other designer used the shop vac – as storage for her shoes! That gave me a great idea on what to do with the broken shop vac that is taking up room in our basement!

A little bit frustrating

Recently I’ve been reading other people’s blogs and feel the urge to place a comment on one of the articles that I’ve read. The blog indicates that comments are still open and welcome, but I’ve been frustrated in my attempts to actually post the comments. Sometimes I have to register and then log in, which I understand and don’t have a problem about. But when I do all of that and then spend ten minutes typing a thoughtful comment on their post and click on submit and then get an error message telling me that I can’t post a blank comment I get a little bit frustrated. I can’t seem to figure out why that is happening, and what to do about it. What would you suggest I do?
