I was reading an article on the BBC.co.uk website that there is a big scandal regarding a company called the Sanlu Group selling tainted milk powder. The milk powder was tainted with a chemical called melamine, and has made many Chinese babies ill. This melamine is the same chemical that was found in pet food last year that killed thousands of pets! Melamine is linked to kidney failure, which is generally fatal. Nineteen people have been arrested in this new scandal; I hope that they are thrown into jail for the rest of their lives! This is a horrible thing to do – putting this kind of toxic chemical into the food supply!
